Inspired by the Handworth Self Portrait portrait of 1979, we invite you to turn up in groups, or individually to Myah’s pop-up photography studio in your very best attire, your Sunday Best, to have your portraits taken. Digital versions of portraits will be sent to participants as a gift once they are developed.
Performance: ABUELOS, After the Flood by Reisz Amos
14:00 - 15:00
Reisz will perform “ABUELOS, After the Flood”, a theatre and sound piece.
Reflections from Reisz:
“Metonymy is the substitution of a term in place of another that it is closely related to. I began to think of what YARD is in association to ABUELOS, as a holding place for the greater idea, or the beta version of a bigger picture.
As ideas formulated I received the news of the flood that destroyed YARD. Devastated by this news I wanted to help in any way I could and soon realised I could support the repair and rebuild. This practical aid, though necessary, is a physical response to a need but, true to form, the creative in me felt led to contribute to the re-imagining of the future vision. How we move in the face of adversity, how we begin again after we have already begun, how do we leave things behind that are not meant for our future, what precautions (if any) can be taken to preserve what is salvageable and what is needed in order to create again.”
