On tour celebrating their debut album Shamming The Drama, bold Scottish quartet Birdvox deliver a colourful collision of political disco, skewed-folk floor-fillers, avian electronica and hymns to humanity. Singing in Scots, Shetland dialect, old Norn and English, they distil traditional folk, indie, electronica and pop into an uplifting, unflinching and joyful live experience.
Birdvox are four established, multi-tasking artist-producers: Sarah Hayes (vocals, flute, synths, programming), Charlotte Printer (vocals, bass), Jenny Sturgeon (vocals, guitar, synths, sampling) and Inge Thomson (vocals, accordion, electronica, beats). Formed from a shared passion for birds, harmonies and impromptu kitchen discos, the group creates an energetic, shapeshifting sound rich with harmonies and vocal interplay.
Expect music pulled from pasts that never met… It’s post-folk, post-pop, post-pigeonhole. It’s the sum of all its parts. Birdvox are what happens when you rewrite the recipe and shake the kaleidoscope.
“Perhaps the standout event of the whole festival... exciting and energetic... at the intersection of boundary-pushing art and extremely listenable, melody-based pop”
